After Surgery

Hey everyone, I had surgery yesterday around 10am, it was quite an experience. And can I just tell you that Versed is the weirdest stuff! I learned about it in nursing school but its totally different when when you actually have it. They gave me it because they had to inject an isotope into my breast before surgery so it could circulate and they could find the sentinel node(the lymph node that drains the tumor). Dr. Stults couldn't use a local so they had to dope me up with the versed. I felt all three pokes but for some reason I didn't care! Then they let everyone back in my room and I was laughing and crying at the same time and doing my beauty queen wave as they wheeled me back to surgery. Then I saw Peggy Stults who was with me the whole time(what a sweetheart, she said she couldn't leave me), and then lights out and I woke up in recovery. I never had any pain except this morning I'm a little sore. I was sent home with a JP drain that I get out on Monday. So anyway what I know from the surgery is that there was no cancer in the sentinel node or the marginal tissue around the tumor. Yea! I do kinda remember him saying something about cancer in the ducts but I'm not sure what that means. I will find out more on Monday and keep you all posted. Thanks for all the prayers, I know you all pulled me through! Love you all so much!

Breast Cancer

Hey everyone, I figured I owe it to all my friends and family to let you know whats going on, but I hate you make you all worry. It's kinda weird to be posting this but it's the best way to reach all of you, so here goes. I found out on Monday that I have breast cancer. I found a lump about three weeks ago, had a biopsy done and the doctor called me Monday to tell me that it is cancer. Apparently I am estrogen dominant and that has been feeding the cancer. I also found out that my dad's dad's mom had breast cancer but that seems to be the only connection. I have surgery scheduled on Friday to have the lump removed and to see if there is cancer anywhere else(hopefully not). I'm not certain how the treatment will go after that but its possible I will need chemo, radiation, and an estrogen inhibitor(which means no kids for approx. 5 years:( not my favorite news). My family and I had our tearful day and now we are all just moving on and doing what needs to be done. I know that whatever is supposed to happen will and I have faith in my Heavenly Father's plan for me. I also know I have the unending love and support of all my family and friends! I love you all so much, thanks for all you do! I will let you know what we find out after surgery. Love you guys!

Jon McLaughlin Concert

My sister Allison and I and some friends went to the Jon McLaughlin concert at the Avalon in SLC while I was up there for my cousin Kari's wedding reception. We went to the concert while everyone else went to the family dinner. But we did go to the reception! I didn't really know many of his songs except the one from Enchanted. But he is really good in concert and the tickets were CHEAP! He sang So Close in Enchanted at the ball and his newest single is Beautiful Disaster.

Me and Allie outside under the Marquise. Like the nose shot?

Some lady was giving out free posters, I decided to make out with mine(don't tell Shawn!).

He played the keyboard like mad! He kinda reminded me of Jerry Lee Lewis. It was freezing inside but you wouldn't know it from those sweaty pits! HeHe:)

Halloween

Shawn and I hung out at my parent's house for Halloween. We helped pass out candy there(since no kids come to our scary old house on the treacherous street without a sidewalk). We watched Young Frankenstein like we do every year(one of the greatest movies ever made!), I haven't quite converted Shawn yet but I'm working on it.

Mike went to The Howl at SUU with some friends and Kristin and I had fun dressing him up!

HaHa! Is this not the SCARIEST thing you've ever seen?!

Still can't figure out what he is? Hannah Montana!

I can't believe how much he reminds me of Chris Farley! If he was still alive I'm sure he would have done this skit and looked just like this. You gotta love Mikey!

Jazz Game

Two weeks ago Shawn and I went to a Jazz Game with Mike, Tanner, Allison, and Jared. They played the L.A. Clippers. It was fun getting to visit and Shawn got his Jazz fix.

You can tell we had amazing seats! At $11 each it was cheap entertainment and they actually weren't as bad as we thought. I didn't get too many pictures, cameras weren't allowed and the security guy was hunting for me.

Allie having so much fun! She didn't want to go but we had an extra ticket so we made her!

Mike and Tanner having sooo much fun as you can tell! There were a few "special" fans in attendance that night seated behind us. For Tanner they were more entertaining than the game. Their enthusiasm was really hilarious!

Mike trying to look cool and uninterested.

Happy Birthday Honey!

We celebrated Shawn's 27th birthday last night with my family. My dad made him Tri-tip. We also had corn, potato salad, baked beans, and watermelon. I guess Shawn wanted one last summer feast! We had to eat at four before Shawn had to go to work. He's off today and for the whole week, he's going hunting with his brother Cris this weekend!

Mike and my skinny mom enjoying a little homemade rootbeer. Thats right! I made rootbeer and it was delicious! We had fun playing with the dry ice.

Shawn and Nikie enjoying a little conversation about 4-wheelers.

Shawn's amazing ice cream cake! I didn't make it (I made one for his bday a couple years ago and he was so sweet gagging it down and not complaining!) but I did decorate it with the cutest candles. It's hard to light 27 candles and they didn't all get lit before the cake was covered in wax.

Shawn wanted binoculars for his bday, so he got a gift certificate to Sportsman's. That way he doesn't have to return whatever funky ones I would pick out.

Singing happy birthday, and Shawn admiring his awesome cake.

Shawn enjoying his ice cream cake before he has to go to work. :(

Nikie and I posing for the camera. She was down to Cedar visiting from Salt Lake. Just in time for Shawn's Bday.

The First Snow of the Season!

I can't believe winter is on its way! We had our first storm two weeks ago, it only snowed up Cedar Mountain so Shawn and I went up for a drive and it was beautiful. I only wish the snow would stay up the mountain so we could visit it only when we want to!

This is the view from Cedar Breaks, the Sunset View.

This is the start of the path to Shawn's grandparent's cabin, we couldn't believe all the snow!

Aren't I a great photographer? Yeah, no. I just thought the prints the leaves made in the snow was the epitome of fall. Very pretty.

Shawn and I trudged through the snow to see the cabin. It looked so quaint I had to get a picture. We covered the windows while we were there in case the snow got any higher. Maybe next spring we can put the cabin to some good use!
